1. big trouble

So I got to the airport 2 hrs and 45 minutes early. There was a huge line for Asiana. I asked the guy behind me to watch my bags and cat while I confirmed that I was not supposed to be in the ticketing line, which was very short and was where they sent me last time when I flew to Istanbul. The lady there said I should be in the main line so I went back. 25 minutes later when I got through the line the agent helping me took me to the ticketing line! Annoying. Then they said they had not done this before, so they took pictures of all Cosmo's paperwork and sent to their manager to contact officials in Ho Chi Minh City. I waited in some seats off to the side. Finally a manager came over and said they would not accept the rabies vaccine because it was a 3-year vaccine and not a 1-year vaccine. We called and explained that rabies vaccines are 3-year even though we give them every year.

The lady in Vietnam said she would check with someone else. Right now it is 90 minutes before my flight leaves and we are waiting to hear back

Okay, we got final word that they will not accept the paperwork as is and I will need to fly tomorrow with updated paperwork saying 1 year rabies vaccine. I let the man know that I booked directly through Asiana so they can fix my ticket. Called my friend Dawne to come pick us up but got voicemail so I'll text her. Then started to write this update and the man came back to tell me they will let me go but they may reject me when I get there! So they are ticketing me now. I'm sure I'll need to pay some "coffee money tips" when I arrive. I also called my vet to see if they could email me an updated vaccine certificate that's says 1 year.

The ticketing agent then weighed Cosmo's backpack and said it was over 8kg so too heavy. I started pulling things out and they said the weight was okay but they then pulled out a measuring tape and seemed to think it was too tall or too long or something. I finally had to Google their website and point out that "height" was the depth and the "length" was the height since it would lie on its side. They said they would allow me to proceed but the flight attendants might reject it and it was up to them. I'm now even more glad I brought little gifts for them! Hopefully it works out okay. Finally I'm on my way to security with 1 hour to go. Flight boards in 30 minutes.

There is no one at the Clear line but the guy in the regular line says there's no one in line, which is true. I just walk right up to the next security guy and fumble to get out my passport. Unfortunately the line to go through screening is backed up and it takes a few minutes to even get my tray on the table. Then I realize they are going one tray at a time and taking a long time between each. The other line is almost empty so I grab my tray and move to the other line. I take out Cosmo and he's shaking but does quite well. I actually have a little trouble getting back into his backpack as he wants to crawl back up onto my shoulder! This is a first, as usually he feels safer in his backpack than in my arms. Progress!

Then we wait at security awhile as they need to check my bags since it has a bunch of cat litter in it. Luckily it's only been 10 minutes even though it feels much longer. We get to our gate easily which is where I am now.
